Decided to go to the cinema. Wanted to laugh but was drawn to the
film “Selma.” Took my seat withdrew the
required equipment—tissues.
I listened to much of the movie because every ten minutes my
eyes filled with tears. It is painful to
witness how socially and politically open groups of fearful individuals were denying
other individuals the most basic of human rights with the only justification
being race (another creation of humanity).
What powerful images, what a powerful film, what powerful
people.
…and the fight continues
I saw Selma today and was happy to see it well attended. I teared up much and clapped as though I was in Dr.King's prescence at the speeches! I remember the times!!
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs to see this movie!
Wow, it seems history is closer than we think. You are a witness to what is considered history today, relatedly this also makes me want to know your take on todays conditions as they relate to race, class, gender and equity. Often individuals quickly announce, rather than ask, "things are much better today." You have a point of comparison on which to gage how "better things are." In short, I guess I'm asking the reason for your tears.
